Immortal Dark - Tigest Girma

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recently finished ‘Immortal Dark’ by Tigest Girma and I really enjoyed it. The university setting was quite different to the typical high school setting and I really appreciated reading about characters that were about my age (excluding the immortal vampires of course).

Majority, if not all, of the characters are morally grey in a way that makes you understand why they did what they did, but you also can’t help but feel mad every time they do it. Kidan especially was such a well developed character and her struggles with anxiety and loneliness was really well depicted. The romance was definitely a main focus here, but the dynamic between Kidan and her sister June was the part that kept me reading.

This book is also one of very few that centres around Black vampires coming from African countries! It proudly features braids, natural hair, dark skin and African cultures - a first for me to see in vampire fantasy, since the genre is usually hyper focused on the “pale” complexion.

I highly suggest this book and can’t wait for the next one!
